Best Movies of 2011

This being 'Disturbed Kids', I've compiled my favourite "Cult & Horror & Gore & Weird" Movies of 2011.

5. Rare Exports

A very different 'horror' take on the Santa mythology. I thought this started to get really good just as it ended, still enough creepy horror to make my list.

4. Super

It's much more than just a Kick-Ass clone! It's not really that much like it, in tone anyway. A very weird, dark, brutal and quirky indie alternative. Future cult classic in the making.

3. 13 Assassins

Takashi Miike's samurai film is truly awesome, the 45 minute action finale is stunning and well orchestrated. Enough blood for gore hounds.

2. Drive

I absolutely love this movie! It really got under my skin (in a good way), it's the
coolest film of 2011; stylish, visceral and a unique soundtrack. Timeless and an instant cult classic!

1. I Saw The Devil

A massively original and inventive thriller; part serial killer movie and part revenge actioner. This is destined to be (badly) re-made by Hollywood. Genius!

Honourable Mentions: The Woman, Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, Stake Land, Troll Hunter and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

Most Gory: Hobo With A Shotgun
Most F'd Up: Human Centipede 2

Best Movies of 2010

The best "Cult & Horror & Gore & Weird" entertainment in 2010, possibly the year of the hidden gems...

9. Daybreakers

A modern vampire film that's actually quite original. A great premise and plenty of blood for gorehounds!

8. Repo Men

Not to be mistaken with cult classic 'Repo Man' starring Emilio Estevez, this was a surprise little gem. Jude Law seems to mix quite well with sci-fi fare (Existenz, Gattaca etc) when he stops making terrible rom-coms...

7. Splice

Another surprise gem! A dark, intelligent and thought provoking sci-fi/horror from the 'Cube' director.

6. La Horde

The best Zombie film of 2010 goes to this action-fest from France.

5. Silent House (original)

Seriously creepy atmosphere and genuine scares! The ending is a bit iffy, but still terrifying!

4. Black Swan

Psychological horror from Aranofsky. A dark and atmospheric spellbinder, I just wanted it to go a bit further. Still one of the best films of the year.

3. Man From Nowhere

Brilliant Korean revenge film, with one of the best and most brutal fight scenes I've ever seen.

2. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

A brilliantly paced suspense thriller and the best in the series.

1. Kick-Ass

2010's coolest movie! A quirky, violent and funny comicbook-indie flick that achieved instant cult status!

Most Gory: Machete
Most F'd Up: A Serbian Film
